Abolitionists use victim images.
Why does this offend so many Christians?
It shouldn’t.
Our entire hope lies on Christ Jesus! He was publicly beaten – torn to shreds and marred beyond human semblance. His body was nailed to a tree and hung high for all to see. Like an innocent lamb being lead to the slaughter, He willingly took this punishment and bore the wrath of God for those who deserve that wrath but believe on Jesus. We are HAPPY when we describe this to our children and they recognize their own sin and that the living eternal Jesus took their place.
This last Sunday myself and my pastor went to visit dear brethren in Gastonia. We visited Parkwood Baptist, where they attend. On the way in we passed out literature to maybe 4 or 5 adults. A Gospel tract and literature about child sacrifice with a victim image. (Basically begging for Christians to wake up)
In the middle of the song service, security approached us. We ended up leaving because we didn’t feel welcome, but not before a police officer of the House of Caesar spoke for the House of God and agreed with security that “it’s not the right time, it’s not the right place.”
They asked us the same question we always hear: “What if CHILDREN saw those images…?!”
Why are so many Christians so quick to ask, “What if our children see these bloody images of baby murder victims?”
If I’m being blunt – I’m down right ECSTATIC when a Christian even MENTIONS child sacrifice. The silence is deafening.
But to my point, often, these types of brethren seem MORE offended by their bloody images shown than by the fact that 1 out of every 4 pregnancies end with that horrific act being rendered upon their innocent, weak little bodies.
It’s a fact.
This is our reality.
**I pray this is not the case, but there are times when those who labor intensely to silence or push away Christians speaking for the preborn are later shown to have done little (or nothing) to speak or act on behalf of the victims themselves. I sincerely hope this is not true of these brothers. Still, it is sobering to consider how grievous it would be to expend more effort suppressing calls to repentance than to labor for the abolition of this great evil and the repentance of our nation before Christ.**
By His providence, God gave us life and chose for us to live in one of the bloodiest ages of human history.
To this day we still look with disbelief at cultures who practiced human sacrifice.
But we put cultures like the Aztec to shame.
In terms of sheer volume AND in the many ways we’ve perfected the art of human sacrifice.
It’s estimated the Aztecs sacrificed 80,000 human lives dedicating one temple. We kill that many in just a few weeks.. BUT in the shadows of HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of steeples and HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of professing Christians. And those murders are executed in accordance with the pro-life regulations christians have worked to enshrine into our laws.
Yes. We put those old heathen cultures to shame- our degeneracy and evil is FAR superior.
Perhaps, brothers, instead of trying to keep covering it up, we should repent?
If someone brings an image of one of these victims to the Body of Christ and asks for your help – instead of getting angry and trying to run them off – think of it like the men who tore the roof open to lay their helpless, crippled friend before the hands and feet of Jesus.
In a culture such as ours, our ONLY HOPE is Jesus. He can save us!
He has called and commissioned His church to preach this Gospel and to disciple the nations to observe all He has commanded. God has given the Gospel – the keys to the Kingdom – to His church.
If we don’t advance His Kingdom, who will?
When lawlessness abounds the love of many waxes cold. If we don’t love our helpless preborn neighbors in this lawless age, who will?
Christians, we are obligated to love our neighbors as ourselves.
We are our brother’s keeper.
Whatever we do not do for the least of these, we don’t do for Jesus.
And He has told us to seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly before Him.
This is anecdotal, and I’m sure someone can find a 1% what-about-ism to justify themselves, but the only time I’ve ever seen children get upset over victim images is when their parents get upset. Normally, they are simply curious. Instead of teaching your children to be angry and upset that someone reminded them of what’s literally happening all around you and your church… wouldn’t it be better to let your children know that something terrible happened to the baby, but Daddy and Mama are doing something about it?
Wouldn’t it be better to live your life in such a way that your children recognize Jesus is not just someone you talk and sing about on Sundays?
A dear Pastor I know once said, “As long as this is public policy, these victims should be publicly displayed.”
I agree with him.
And I am of the opinion it’s even more vital for CHRISTIANS to see them. We have the LITERAL cure, but largely choose to peacefully coexist with child sacrifice. In the rare case we do act it’s usually not anywhere near a level of appropriateness or alarm that matches the level of violence and injustice and horrificness and magnitude and weakness of victim.
This is the kind of sin that God obliterates nations over.
We can avoid obliteration! Christ Jesus shed HIS blood for bloody nations like ours who repent toward Him.
